The Island of Tenerife has many places with a high touristic value, for example, the famous Teide, the highest peak in Spain; the wonderful beaches in the south of Tenerife, its beautiful natural parks; volcanic landscapes like the one in Cueva del Viento, or interesting towns and cities like Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, or La Laguna among many other places. Following our last post we continue to show you the most beautiful places to visit in Tenerife.
The cliffs of El Sauzal (one of the most spectacular views in the north)
It is a place protected by the cliffs of Acentejo, on a small littoral platform where you can enjoy cristal clear waters and some wonderful views of the north of the Island. With a trail of 2,5 kilometers that allows you to enter its hideouts where there are multiple places to take a swim.
Las Cañadas del Teide (specially the Guajara Mount, that is considered a sacred one or the crater of El Teide)
Located in the National Park of El Teide, in the Island of Tenerife, the Guajara Mount is, with its 2,718 meters, the highest point on the park and the third highest peak in Tenerife. With an easy access by car to its base, the ascent path to the peak of Guajara is going to require a higher effort. It is recommended to wear suitable clothes and footwear, and to bring food and drinks. There are no restrooms nearby, as the national touristic parador is five kilometers away and El Portillo is fourteen kilometers away.
In the Guajara Mount, where you can sleep outdoors, the sunrise offers a wonderful light and color spectacle while the sun rises in the horizon. By night, the view of the sky towards the horizon allows you to watch the Cassiopeia constellation, with its characteristic W shape. To its left is the Polar star, that shows the north. Right of Cassiopeia, to the east, a square of stars starts going up the sky as the night goes by. It is Pegasus, the winged horse of the greek mythology.
Masca (a unique corner as few others)
Masca is one the most picturesque zones of the Island and it is located in the Northwest, in the Mounts of Teno. It might be a little bit complicated to arrive to this beautiful village, but it is completely worth it, as you will be taken through deep ravines with a rich vegetation and twisting roads of closed curves. The landscape along the way is overwhelming and, once you’ve arrived to Masca, the natural beauty of this amazing town will leave you breathless.
Until very recently it was an almost unknown town but now it has become a center of attraction for the tourists that visit the island. The environment of the town is magical and its houses are almost hanging from a thread in the narrow crests of its spectacular rock formations. It is without a doubt any photographer’s dream.
Famous for being a shelter for pirates, the little Masca’s Bay is three hours away by foot from the town, through an amazing landscape. You must remember that, once you’ve descended to Masca, you can come back walking (which requires more time and a very good physical shape) or you can take a boat in the coast that will take you to Los Gigantes.
The natural reserve of the Yellow Mount in Granadilla (A special place to do some scuba diving)
To visit the Yellow Beach, is to go into one of the most curious landscapes of the island. You’ll be impressed by the whimsical shapes that the waves have carved in the yellow stone of this mountain, that has been declared as a natural monument, due to its extraordinary beauty.
The water is so clear, you will regret not bringing your goggles to do some snorkeling or scuba diving. It is quite common to see groups of people and diving clubs performing immersions in this area. The beach is made out of different types of rocks, but there is an area very close by enabled as a solarium, and you will also find stairs so you can have a direct access to the sea.
The Caleta of Adeje (A white sand coast with La Gomera as its background curtain)
The Caleta is a small fisher’s town, in the municipality of Adeje, in the south of the Island of Tenerife.
This quiet seaside town is outside the most touristic zones of Adeje and it has a series of swimming areas, of coves and of beaches that can only be reached by foot, because it is a protected zone, declared as the “Site of scientific interest of La Caleta”.
Among them we find the beach of Los Morteros, a small cove with black rocks and cristal clear water surrounded by cliffs, perfect for camping. The least known and visited of this coves is the beach of Diego Hernández also known as Playa Blanca, a beach with white sand, cristal clear waters and with an extraordinary view of the Island of La Gomera. It is near de Golf Course “Costa Adeje”, between La Caleta and El Puertito. Nudism is a common practice in this place, and as in the Playa de los Morteros people also camp in it. None of them have any type of services for its users.
Once you’ve finished your journey visiting the most beautiful places in Tenerife, you and your family can relax in Aqua Club Termal. Aqua Club Termal is a temple of sensations and experiences for all audiences with unique and innovative treatments in an exclusive environment.
